Community

Thriving communities can make great things happen. Evergreen’s focus is to support people and communities to get back on their feet.

Our community

goals

Poverty, care, support and protection of the disadvantaged and needy is Evergreen’s focus.

We set out to offer relief when an identifiable need arises from circumstance that people, families or community otherwise would not be able to address themselves.

A key spotlight is on community groups that serve to address this need for their local people.

Our community

support

Evergreen supports a number of volunteer-led initiatives, as well as other not-for-profit organisations who make a valuable contribution to our communities. Find out about the initiatives we’re supporting.

With funds raised Evergreen was able to support rural communities through funding community-led events, a critical aspect of their recovery. Getting off the land, socialising, sharing experiences, and connecting with others has been very important for individual well-being along with galvanizing communities for the work they have ahead of them.

Evergreen has supported 47 events and contributed $200,000 since April 2023. At least 10,000 people have benefited from these events.

Evergreen has been supporting Project Prima Volta with an annual $35,000 contribution since 20XX. This contributes to supporting PPV’s work in educating young people on the benefits of music.

Around 35 secondary students from predominantly lower decile schools in Hawke’s Bay spend a year learning to sing and perform. They are also mentored and counseled along the way.

Evergreen has been supporting the Heretaunga Women’s Centre since 2011 through the wishes of the late Anne-Marie O’Sullivan donating an annual $75,000 to support the Centre’s work with disadvantaged women.

The work involves programmes and counselling to support women in the community.

While Dan Carter and Ruby Tui were in town we took the opportunity to host a function to acknowledge our local heroes who went above and beyond in the initial response to the Cyclone – many of whom saved many lives carrying out rescues in our isolated rural areas.
