Evergreen has been supporting The Hawkes Bay Clean-up team since March 2023. We have supplied the volunteer team with tools, equipment, vehicles, a digger, accommodation and have contributed to the operating expenses to enable Martha and the team to do their work.
To date 180 homes have been desilted and prepared for either recovery or rebuild, saving an estimated $9M for homeowners in the Hawkes Bay region. Approximately 2500 – 3000 days of volunteer time has been contributed to this initiative.
Martha Taonui, as well as the Hawke’s Bay Clean-up Team each received 2024 Hastings District Council Civic Honors Awards for their contribution to our region in the Cyclone Recovery.
