Two ‘Hort Day’ events were facilitated by Evergreen to support our growers who were hit hard by Cyclone Gabrielle. One event was held in Hastings in October 2023 and the other in Gisborne in December 2023.
Evergreen contributed $600,000 to run the two events with the aim of pulling the horticulture community together, along with invited industry advisors and guests. A total of 195 growers and 425 industry guests participated in the two events.
Each grower received a fruit bin full of ‘goodies’ – orchard tools, equipment, and home goods – and had the opportunity to connect with others away from their land.
